I’ve been housesitting for my mom and step dad these past few weeks while they’re on an extended vacation to Greece in celebration of their one year wedding anniversary.  One of the best things about staying the house is getting to explore my mom’s closet.  It still smells the same way as when I was little, and I’m still  just as fascinated by her collection of silk scarves and sparkly costume jewelry as ever.

If there’s a way to describe my mother’s style I would probably have to say “put together.”  I’ve noticed that one of the ways she accomplishes this effect is with one of her dozens of scarves.  Whether tied on the handle of a satchel, draped over the shoulders of her blazer, or knotted around her neck, it’s her omnipresent staple that she seems to wear effortlessly.  Having a few scarves of my own, I’d love to start a real collection someday — and here are just a few I’ve picked out to get started:
