There must be something in the water over there in Australia, because the fashion designers seem to be hitting the sartorial nail on its head. First up, designer Kym Ellery’s eponymous line Ellery is chock-full of fancy items you’ll never want to take off: Structural and smart, these are the pretty things you save for special occasions, but are inclined to wear around the house because they just make you feel good.

Next, is Aussie brand Shakuhachi which is basically made up of the stuff cool girls wear. Case in point: Sophia Amoruso, the owner of Nasty Gal, who we shot at our City of Style book launch party rocking a super-fly Deco Deco lace dress. I love their splurge-y but affordable price-point, meaning I can actually save up for something here and not feel entirely guilty when I do click “buy”. It’s times like this I thank the internet gods: Both of these stores have e-commerce, so you can purchase from miles and miles away. You’re welcome.
