My favorite memory: I grew up in San Francisco, so we never got snow days where we got to skip school because of bad weather. But one year in the fall, it rained for so many days straight, that when we got to the school, it was literally under a foot of water. So a few of my best friends came back to my house and we had the ultimate day at home. We watched movies, drank hot chocolate, did our nails, and read magazines.

One year, a couple years ago, my brother found out that I liked a boy who happened to be at the Fair that takes place every fall across the road from our house. So, like the good brother he is, he proceeded to tell the boy (very loudly, and in front of everyone) that I liked him–and also that I was a bit of an idiot. Thank god I wasn’t anywhere near them when he chose to say it, but to this day I’m still astounded that he had the nerve to do that! We laugh about it, though; I never had the nerve to speak to the boy before that anyhow, so it broke the ice somewhat.
that’s one of my favorite fall memories.

The first sighting of Fall always gets me excited for Canadian Thanksgiving. It’s when the whole family get’s together and heads to the Cottage for one last time before closing it up. As the turkey and delicious sides are cooking away we all take a stroll outside to check out the beautiful Fall leaves and everyone collects their favourite to colloborate later as the tables centre piece. This has been a favourite reacurring fall memory of mine leading up to Christmas. – BrittanyM

My favorite fall memory happened last year, at around this time. It was my senior year of high school at a camping trip that i went on with all of my friends. There, i met Ryan :) We fell in love in October and have been together ever since. A year has gone by and I couldn’t be happier! Now the smells of Fall, the orange of the leaves all reminds me of those crisp Autumn days were me and him first met. Now I’m in college and we are making the long distance relationship work! Fall is my favorite season :)

My favorite fall memory goes back to Thanksgiving 2 years ago. I live in beautiful San Diego, CA, a city full of tourists and out of towners, including quite a few of my close friends. With my family and my best friend’s family both traveling out of the country for the holidays, we decided to host a Thanksgiving dinner party at his family’s beach house right on La Jolla Shores, and invite 3 of our friends who could not be reunited with their families. The night before, we all gathered at my house finalizing the dinner menu, prepping the mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, glazing the turkey with one last coat of spices, all the while “perfecting” our hard apple cider, and having a guitar hero show down. It was a laughter filled evening to say the least. The next morning, we were so pumped to start cooking especially since it’s everyone’s first time making our own Thanksgiving meal from scratch. We got my friend Kyle’s mom on Skype, following her step by step roasting the turkey – thank you technology! Definitely could not have afforded to mess up the most important part of the meal! After hours of trial and error our meal came out a success for us first timers! I devoured 3 giant plates! Post dinner, we had to take advantage of the 65 degree Southern California weather, and took a nice long stroll on the beach, throwing football, playing frisbee with Albus the dog. 5 of us sat on a giant rock and watched one of the most magnificent sunsets – the sky appeared as if it was lit on fire, with hues of gold, orange, red, and streaks of purple, it was truly breathtaking! We set up a firepit right outside the house on the beach after it got dark, enjoyed our perfected apple cider, exchanged what we were thankful for, and chatted & laughed for hours before we all decided to jump in the hot tub and shared more stories and laughter. Even though we had all been friends for years, we got to know one another a lot better and on a deeper level. We didn’t do anything crazy, or daring, however, there’s just something about sharing the experience, good food, good company, that is so comforting and satisfying. It makes me very nostalgic thinking back to that day.

Although, it has not gotten been a degree colder than last month I caught myself in nostalgia while I was on campus a late evening after class ended. It was the only night I can remember that was even close to fall weather this year that brought me back to one of my favorite memories. My best friend and I had dated two guy best friends on the football team our senior year exactly two years ago. The four of us were at a football game of a younger team and were sipping hot chocolate from styrofoam cups with our backs to the game on the very top bleacher. My best friend and I had permanent smiles on our faces as we watched the guys act silly and playfully argue. Later into the night, each of us were underneath their football hoodies cuddling away holding each other close. The smell of that night was distinct with a dab of cool air through our noses, which I encountered again that same night I walked on campus.

  6. Kelly says:

Growing up I lived on a street filled with tons of kids around the same age as me. One day in late fall, when I was nine, a group of us collected all of the leaves from a number of yards to create a leaf fort. Convinced that it would work just like a snow fort we worked all day stacking leaves in a circle to create a leaf igloo. We were able to create a mini hut with a ply-wood roof that lasted for a few days until we had a big rainstorm. But, for those few days we all lived inside the leaf fort, even packing our own lunches to spend time playing games, and cherishing our hard work.

Labor day weekend is a big celebration in my family. It’s the au revoir to summer and the welcoming in to the fall season with open arms. Its the cozy wool sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, and rows of colorful trees that bring me back to some of my favorite fall memories. Since I was a child, it has been a weekend filled with family fun, good food, and some of my most cherished memories. While I have spent my entire life in Chicago, this weekend is always spent at the family lake house in northern Michigan. It’s that first long weekend where all the kids can take a break from school, enjoy the late night bonfires, have the last boat ride until next summer, and indulge in some of our favorite meals cooked by our grandparents. This was our first labor day where all of the kids were away at college. Myself in southern Illinois, my older brother in Indiana, and my 4 cousins were spread out in Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. For us, we were used to distance since our family lives all over the world, however not spending Labor Day weekend together, now that was unheard of. This labor day weekend was one that will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was a couple weeks before Labor day and I received a care package from my grandparents. Inside the package was a framed family picture from a Labor Day weekend when we were all younger with a plane ticket attached to the back of the frame. This exact same package was sent to all of the grandkids, and the plane ticket taking all of us to the airport in michigan. It was by far one of the most memorable fall weekends I have ever spent at my lake house with my family.

Every year since I was about 2 years old, my mom has taken a picture of my dad, my two sisters and me together at the pumpkin patch. We now have 21 years of pumpkin pictures hanging above the stairs at my parents’ house. It’s amazing to see how we’ve all changed throughout the years! Last year was the first year that all of us girls were finally in college. This meant we were no longer able to go to a farm as a family when pumpkins were in season. Instead, we bought a bunch of fake pumpkins and set them up next to a corn field to take our picture in the summer. It was so much fun and I’m so happy that we get to continue this tradition. This is one fall memory that I can’t wait to share with my children and their grandpa, no matter what season it is!

My favorite fall memory has to do with my girlfriend because it was the time of year when we had our first date. I was a nervous wreck–if she realized it, she still hasn’t let on–even though I had tried my best to plan everything perfectly: lunch in a busy Manhattan restaurant, the afternoon in her favorite museum, and time to walk in Central Park. The best part of the day was what I didn’t plan: the moment she reached out and held my hand for the first time. Fall for me since then is the cobblestones by the park, red leaves on the ground, a heavily clouded sky, and my girlfriend walking right next to me in a beige trench coat just like this one….because that was exactly what she as wearing on that first date 5 years ago.

My favorite fall memory happened just last year. Autumn is my favorite time of year. My birthday is in October and my favorite holiday is Halloween. The smell of leaves, the crisp air, homemade caramel apples, and carving pumpkins never fails to put me in a great mood. However, last year a week after my birthday, a close friend of mine passed away. It seemed like everything came to a halt. All the things I always look forward to seemed irrelevant. My boyfriend in an attempt to cheer me up took me to a pumpkin patch to spark a new tradition. Normally when picking my pumpkin to carve I choose one that looks nice, but has a few imperfections. That year was different though, we spent hours going up and down the pumpkin patch trying to discover the perfect pumpkin. In a time when I felt I had no control, I knew I had control over which pumpkin I chose. My boyfriend and I left as the sun was setting dirty and tired, but with the perfect pumpkin in tote.

A few years ago, my grandmother moved from India to London at the age of 82. She had a pretty terrible year- my grandfather’s Alzheimer’s had become so bad that they had no choice but to move closer to other family who could help take care of them. She never complained about any of it, but I could tell she was having a hard time adjusting to a completely new country, climate, and language.

That fall, we went for a walk out in London together to pick up groceries. We were happily chattering when she stopped dead in her tracks. She turned to me and said, “Why are the leaves on these trees so RED?” You see, where she lived in India her whole life, they don’t really have seasons. She had literally never seen leaves change their color in her entire 80 plus years of life!! She laughed and commented that no matter how old you get or how much you have experienced in life, you are never be too old to be surprised by the simple things in life. It’s maybe one of the best memories I have with her and a lesson I’ll never forget.

My favorite fall memory goes back a year ago when my family got together for my dad’s fiftieth birthday party (aka what we called an over-the-hill party). It was an amazing time to be all together for the winter! My parents are divorced and to get all my siblings under one roof is definitely hard. Being together reminds me of all the fun and laughter we had together as kids and seeing how much everyone has grown up. I’m truly blessed and thankful for the times we spend together.

well my experience of Fall, well, to be honest, I stay in a country which lay in the equator ( Indonesia and Singapore ) which both don’t experience the 4 seasons. So there was once our parents took us to Korea to spent our holiday and it was during the fall time and I couldn’t forget how nice the feeling was under the trees where all the leaves turned orange and red and the breeze of warm air.

It was also a memorable one because it was a super rare occasion where we, my sisters and I, and our parents to be able to enjoy the fall season because apparently our parents are too busy with their business and it would be a really nice chance to have this iconic burberry trench to accompany us for our next fall trip as we gonna move away to the London!

    xx,
    *crossing fingers* wish us luck!

favaorite fall memory is sitting on a grassy knoll with my mom, my cousin and sister just enjoying the sunny day. The tall grass was golden and we were sitting on a small hill just quietly talking and laughing. We livedon a wooden log house with hills behind us and the river in front of our house. The memory of that day sticks with me since I was four years old.

This might be a little cliché, but I grew up in the suburbs of Virginia. There was this big Oak tree in front of our house and the leafs would turn bright yellow, the minute it was a windy day, my brother and I would run out and try to catch the most leaves that were falling from that beautiful plant. It was like snowing tiny gold feathers all around us with the sun shining bright. I miss thoses innocent days

I guess my fall story was the one when I was with my bf at the time and we were walking by the park, and one of those lovely and magic airs came all the way towards us and we just fell into the ground laughing at how things are so funny, different and magical, it was breathtaking because in that precise moment he told me he had never loved a girl that way before and that he wanted to spent the rest of his life with me…

That memory will be on my mind forever even If im with someone else now…that was just awesome.
