I love my vintage apartment – the real hardwood floors were a total selling point for me, but it gets so cold. When I first moved in, I jumped from rug to rug till I made the trek from my bedroom to the bathroom. One month of morning cardio and I was done with it, so I got myself some Minnetonka house slippers. They served me well, but this winter I’m excited to get some cute ones…and really, those cat slippers are perfect.

I have to have my hair out of my face with a headband when I’m washing my face. It’s a habit I picked up from my mom: she had a drawer full of ‘em in the funniest prints (bugs, plaids, animals) and emblazoned with the shiniest rhinestones. I’ve picked up mom’s penchant for headbands, but I prefer mine to be a bit more wearable in the event that I want to take them outside of the bathroom.

p.s. Can you tell I have an affinity towards bows? It’s pretty much the only place I’ll wear them.

We’re excited to talk about Poketo (a store that brings art into your everyday via great design) and their work with CicLAvia, an event that raises money for outdoor-lovin’ Angelenos. Today many of the most congested L.A. streets will be blocked off for bikers, walkers, runners and skateboarders to experience a car-free city for a couple of hours.

The first turning leaves remind me that I need to burrow deep into the back of my sock drawers to find the black tights I lived in last fall: they let me stretch my summer clothes all the way into mid-November (under shorts, dresses and skirts).  Alas, every year it’s the same – the black tights I do happen to find are ridden with so many runs and pills that they looks like a small animal is living on my legs. It’s raining in Los Angeles right now. That’s not a sentence that I say very often: I grew up in here, so I’m used to my sunshine, and don’t own any inclement weather gear. My saving grace is a good beanie; it covers the frizzies and keeps my head warm. Most of my beanies come from the men’s section (I prefer the chunky, slouchy variety) but these pom-pom adorned ones are so adorable. Guess what? I am wearing a beanie as I write this.

So, admittedly, I have a bit of a jewelry problem, which is why I just spent the better part of two hours looking at every single page on this UK-based site (good news for us here in the states, they ship worldwide). It’s like a global bazaar for little-known designers, and everything feels one of a kind (often, the items are). Trouble, trouble.

I’m into the Wonder Woman look: two identical shiny cuffs, one on each wrist. The minimalist look is a nice break from the stacks upon stacks of bangles (which I still love). Emily, from Cupcakes and Cashmere, has super cute ones, too. The two on the left are pricier, but the cuffs on the right are under $5; I just bought the Layered Cuff from Forever 21 and my roomate has already called dibs to borrow them.
