Stripe Study: Our Favorite Striped Dresses March 24th, 2011 By

Horizontal stripes with a nautical edge are easy wardrobe staples in the spring and summer.  Luckily for us, the classic look doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and some of the latest silhouettes are sweet and feminine.  I just picked up this dress from Forever21 and was really impressed with the pleated detailing at the waist and striking black zipper.  The cut is amazing, and fits my curves in all the right places.  Here are five more of our favorites out right now in a range of reasonable price points:

This Theory Striped Silk Dress looks effortless and chic.  This would be a great base to start mixing with prints and patterns, and silk is easily dressed up in the evening.

We love the carefree fit of the Ella Moss Cassidy Striped Dress.  The rounded hem and gathered sleeves are a sweet contrast to the wide jersey stripes.

This linen jersey A.L.C. Striped Kate Dress has an exposed back zip and striking silhouette.  We love the wide boat neck and the way the horizontal stripes are cut to line up with the seams.

Sometimes we can’t get over how inexpensive Forever21 is.  This Heritage1981 Striped Dress is only $14.90!  It comes with braided rope leatherette belt with antique brass finish, and features two adorable front pockets.

How pretty is this Mango Stripe Bow Back Dress?  It features pockets and back bows with keyhole detailing!  Available at ASOS.com for just under $100.

LAFW Presents: Gypsy05 Fall 2011 Runway Show March 17th, 2011 By

LA Fashion week was out in full force at last night’s Gypsy05 runway show.  Hosted in downtown Los Angeles at the gorgeous baroque venue Vibiana, no detail was overlooked from the lavish cocktail reception and beauty bar to the fantastic show itself.  The brand known for its eco-friendly outlook, gorgeous silks and dyes, and celebrity following knows definitely knows how to throw a party.

As the guests mingled, photographers relentlessly snapped and Leblon natural cane cocktails garnished with rose petals were served.  I won’t mention how late the show started, but it was definitely time enough for me to take advantage of the beauty bar in the back and have my nails done by Nubar.  I had never heard of the line before, but learned they are cruelty-free and vegan, not to mention free of formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP.  The founder was inspired to create a healthy polish alternative in 2000 after cancer struck his family — truly amazing, and a perfect fit for Gypsy05′s dedication to the environment.

Before the show: My own stacked style and with the Style Chihuahua from Paris

The show began with a dramatic entry.  A pale model with crimped red hair walked down the runway with a flowing neutral skirt and bronze box top, setting the tone for an etheral fairy tale collection.  Olive greens, shades of grey and deep, watery blues floated past me and I found myself lusting after the long skirts and sexy, slouchy mini dresses and longing for fall.  Below are some of my favorite looks from the show:

Cool blues worn with flat boots and light blue hair hydrangea

I loved the crimped hair and flowing skirts worn with earthy sandals

One of my favorites, I loved this knit mini dress worn with socks and sandals

Thanks again to Gypsy05 for hosting such a fun event.  Stay tuned for another giveaway from Beso tomorrow!

Hippie Chic March 1st, 2011 By

If there’s one era of fashion that’s been calling out to me lately, it’s definitely the hippie era as defined by the late ’60s and early ’70s.  Aside from the fact that I completely chickened out when it came to chopping my waist-length hair (long story, but I went in wanting Olivia Palermo’s new bob and left with a trim and a donation to Locks of Love), I’ve been relishing everything else the era has to offer.

So, with newfound appreciation for my long locks, I’m committing to everything boho: including ’70s inspired jeans, ’70s inspired accessories, and our newest picks from our Hippie Chic boutique.  Below are a few of my favorite pieces out right now:

High Waist Pants February 7th, 2011 By

High waist pants are becoming popular again. They are figure flattering for most women and come in a variety of styles.  The right fit and fabric help give the illusion of a taller, thinner frame with extra curves.  The downside to high waist pants is the tendency to exaggerate the hips of fuller figure women to appear much wider than they actually are.  To avoid this problem, buy pants in solid, dark colors or with a wide leg.  A pair of high waisted pants or jeans can easily become a wardrobe staple if they fit well.  Here are some of our favorites:

More Flat Boots – Desert Boots February 5th, 2011 By

Since I’m not really into wearing heels these days, I’ve been on a mission to add more flat boots to my closet.  Poking around on the new Beso iPhone App, I’ve selected a few pairs of Desert Boots that I think just might make the cut:

’70s Inspired Jeans February 4th, 2011 By

It looks like the ’70s are really back.  Yesterday, I posted about ’70s Inspired Accessories, and today I was surprised to open my e-mail and find a post by Who What Wear on ’70s jeans!  So, to add on to the trending fashion suggested by the fine folks at WWW, here are some more ’70s jeans we love:

Colorful Striped Clothing January 30th, 2011 By

Who What Wear just touted “bubblegum stripes” as one of the hottest items to come from the spring runways.  I love that the preppy stripe has transformed into something a little flirtier, and much more bold and daring than previous seasons.

Here are some of Beso’s colorful clothing that scream Spring!

These days, I’m loving Peter Pan collar tops! They lend a sweet touch to any outfit, just like newly pregnant Natalie Portman’s dress from the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.

70s Style Floppy Hats January 25th, 2011 By

I would never call myself a hat person, and really only wear them when it’s practical — at the beach to protect my face, days when I’m too lazy to wash my hair, you know the drill.  But one look I can really get behind right now are these great 70s style floppy hats.  My sister wore one recently in Santa Barbara and she just looked so glamorous.  It probably helped that she took the time to wash and curl her hair, but the overall look was relaxed and fresh.  It was difficult to find the exact style I wanted online, but I took the time to compile some of my favorites:
