I love fall, mainly because it’s finally acceptable to break out all the velvet pieces in my wardrobe and although I’m in love with burnout velvet because of it’s gypsy-esque qualities, there’s something about crushed velvet that really speaks to my soul. Crushed velvet has that soft, luxurious, worn-in quality, and feels truly vintage (even if its brand spankin’ new).
Check out my favorite crushed velvet picks:
clockwise l-r: VELVET GOWN SLIP, $98, Free People; KIMICHI BLUE CHELSEA VELVET ANKLE BOOT, $78, Urban Outfitters; BREANNALEE VELVET CRUSH SHORT, $88, Spanish Moss; WINTER KATE JASMINE VELVET CARDIGAN, $249, The Trend Boutique.
“I said, ‘Instead of going in the direction that a lot of the women singers are going in [revealing], I’ll be very, very sexy under 18 pounds of chiffon and lace and velvet… I will have mystique.” – Stevie Nicks
