Who knew that luxury and human rights could go hand-in-hand? Paul van Zyl, creator of Maiyet spent twenty years working in transitional justice under Desmond Tutu before he met Daniel Lubetzky at the World Economic Forum. They wanted to create a company who’s profits could help promote peace, so they set out to find the best craftspeople in places like Colombia, Mongolia and Peru to make their wares. Boy, did they succeed. Their offers are beautiful, hand-crafted and stocked in some of the most luxury conscious outlets around from Luisa Via Roma to Barneys. It’s refreshing to know that though the prices are steep, your money is going towards the company’s dedication to creating stable communities. Plus, when you have Daria Werbowy shooting your lookbook, you know you’re onto something special.
