Ah, I don’t quite know how to introduce Dechter. We sat next to each other at Lucky in the early days of the magazine, where she taught me how to work the cafeteria for delicious results (she’s an expert orderer and improviser, for real). I thought she was very fancy, because she was born in New York and wore fancy Ralph Lauren sweaters and thick wale corduroys (hilarious because the two couldn’t be more antithetical to her style these days). But behind that initially preppy veneer, she was just delightfully kooky, offbeat, and inspiring.
Over the years, we’ve followed each other around, or she might say, that I follow her around. I joined her at Time Out New York for what were, inarguably, a pretty awesomely fun 14 months, and then I went back to Lucky, and she decided to move to LA to run the beachy fashion mag Foam, which is impossible to find but so worth seeking out. And now, I’m in LA, too, because life is better where Kristina lives. (Seriously, she’s always onto the great things well before everyone else.)
Like all of the contributing editors at Beso, Kristina really likes to shop: And shop for things that other people just don’t yet know that they love, and need to have. (And she also like to make bread and jam, which you can read about right here!)
