An ex-movie exec, Dorothy Shuford Lanier felt a strong pull towards fashion and left the film industry behind for Parsons, launching her line POPE in 2009. The stuff here is intensely beautiful both in construction and color composition (hot pink and green floral? It works!). I’m smitten with her not-so-basic Ripley dress which is embroidered with colored thread criss-crossed on the vertical: It’s subtly unique, but still maintains an air of classic dress.
