My Love Affair
With Baggu Continues

Maybe it’s a function of having spent a decade in New York, where we’re all inured to carrying way too much stuff around all the time (groceries, gym bag, laptop bag, purse…), but I generally have at least three nylon Baggu totes in my purse at all time. Not only are they pretty essential at Whole Foods (nothing’s worse than fessing up to needing a shopping bag there), but they’ve saved me many a times on my travels: When I need an extra carry-on, when my carry-on literally bursts mid-transit, when I need something for hauling my flea market finds around. They are always…just the thing. I love them so much that I ordered them as our wedding welcome bags for guests this summer—and our friends seemed to love them so much that many of them even carried them on the wedding weekend hikes through Glacier. (While the super-wide arm opening does make them uber-comfortable, I would argue that a backpack is still more appropriate for a trek. Sigh. New Yorkers.) Now, though, they’re cutting the original, super simple Baggu shape in leather, which means I can start to carry one as a regular purse, too. It’s going to get very meta when I stash my nylon Baggus inside…
