Pull Yourself Together:
My Friend, Elise

This is the birthday week of my dear friend (and your lovely editor-in-chief). I was going to write a post about candles, but I opted to be more timely and dedicate this one to the lady that makes it happen, Elise Loehnen. As you may know from reading her posts, Elise’s taste is special…in the way a five-year-old’s drawing is special: It doesn’t look like anything you’ve seen before but it always makes it on your refrigerator door because you somehow found the beauty in it. I mean, there have been plenty of times when Elise and I have sat there, going through her closet, trying to figure out what she should keep and what she should throw away, when the only solution for an item is a bonfire. Personally, I don’t know what else you can do with a patchwork skirt and a Tibetan poncho. Point is, she’s a risk-taker and I like that about her. So, in honor of my friend, I chose a few gifts that remind me of her unique taste.

clockwise, l-r: MARA HOFFMAN KIMONO DRESS, $484.00, Les Nouvelles; WHIMSICAL WATCHES UNISEX HORSE HEAD TAN LEATHER WATCH, $44.95, Amazon; NEW YORK RANGERS ADULT COMFY THROW BLANKET WITH SLEEVES, $19.89, Amazon; CANDY ASS CROSS STITCH DELUXE KIT, $20.00,  Subversive Cross-Stich.

That blanket is technically a snuggie, but I wanted to keep it classy. And I know her SO WELL IT’S ALARMING. PS: IS THE WATCH NOT AAAAAAA-MAZING???
