The fact that designer Raquel Allegra was born in Berkeley, CA to artist parents pretty much sums up her whole line: It’s organic with hippie-ish undertones, but instead of being granola, what she churns out is elegant, flattering and reminds me of something you’d find in nature, whether it’s soft moss or the leaves of a fern.
Not only are her clothes exceedingly wearable, she also originated that delicate, web-like shredding technique that I can attest first-hand is really, really hard. I tried to finger shred an old t-shirt for about four hours before the pads of my poor digits became so raw I couldn’t bear to go on…noted: Raquel Allegra does it all better than I do.
