Re-Inventing the Wheel: Stutterheim Raincoats

“No Gore-tex. No Velcro. No reflectors. For anyone who doesn’t want to look like a sad golfer lost in town, here’s a raincoat for you.” When you click onto Stutterheim Raincoat‘s homepage, this is the message that greets you…and then you remember that there is a dearth of ugly raincoats out there, and then you’re suddenly glad that you’ve found this site. Alexander Stutterheim found his grandpa’s old fishing jacket from the ’60s in a shed and wanted to recreate the coat for himself. These are made in the last standing textile factory in Sweden, with a real dedication to history, craftsmanship and heart (read his section on Meloncholy) that proves that even in the most blistering of winds and heaviest downpours, you can still manage to look really, really good.
