Rypen: Don’t Quite Understand The Concept, But They Have Cool Stuff

One of the few things that Rob and I argue about consistently is the ideal placement of our bikes in the garage. Actually, correction: It’s one of the few things that Rob consistently barks at me about, since I don’t really think about it at all, and he has very specific ideas about where they should be so that one can easily open the passenger door, yadiyadiyada. Rob is obsessed with design and space functionality, and it extends to everything. Anyway, when we were at Dwell on Design (yes, Dwell again), the other weekend, I heard a small yelp of delight when he saw the 44 Steel Bike Hanger, a very, very simple solution that fixes to the wall. He’s right: It’s pretty slick. It was part of a storefront operated by Rypen, which seems to be a curated shopping site that aggregates design houses—Artecnica, Areaware, Bend. Anyway, the idea seems to be that you can click around in a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure way (i.e., you click on something and it offers more of the same concept), which is frustrating if you’re just trying to get to the product page, but theoretically cool if you have absolutely no idea what you’re looking for and just want to click around and see what’s our. Regardless, they have a shopping cart and fair prices, so it’s definitely worth bookmarking if you’re into modern home goods.
