Bag It: Treesje April 1st, 2010 By

I discovered Treesje while shopping for a new handbag a while back, and since then I have been debating which one to treat myself to.  Treesje is a California-based company that was launched in 2005 by designers Laura Darrah and Sheila Nazarian. Their inspiration was to capture femininity and originality in every piece created.

What I love most about Treesje bags are the rich colors and texture. The use of luxurious leathers and hardware make these accessories a must-have. Both designers combine their influences to design, sophisticated yet functional handbags with incredible detail in every collection.  It’s obvious why there is a growing list of celebrity customers including Drew Barrymore, Katherine Heigl, and Katie Holmes.

Below are my favorite Treesje handbags that I found on beso. Which one do you like best?

1.  Studded Lambskin Crossbody Bag, $355.00 at Bloomingdales

I have never seen a gray bag look so chic!  The pleat and stud details on soft lambskin with gold tone hardware is feminine yet tough.

2.  Treesje Marquis Satchel, $595.00 at Endless

I have said before that every woman should own a red handbag!  It pops against neutrals and exudes and element of power and confidence.  The rich cherry red, vertical seam detail and barrel-shaped hardware give this bag an elegant and polished look.

3.  Treesje Studded Metro Clutch, $370.00 at Amazon

Bag It: Designer Backpacks March 5th, 2010 By

Backpacks have never been my favorite accessory.  As a matter of fact, I used to wonder how anyone actually enjoyed the backpack-style purse.  I don’t know if it was the design (or lack thereof), the size and shape, or simply my thinking they weren’t cool to wear.  I can’t imagine having to reach back and fumble around for my lip gloss, or stopping to take it off completely just to get my wallet.  I understand that backpacks are convenient, especially for women with small children or while traveling.  However, must we compromise our style for convenience?

If we continue to see a new trend in backpacks, I hope to find more that are in line with the current trends and still functional.  Men seem to always look great with a backpack but I rarely see cute backpacks for women.  Prada, Tumi, Gucci and Louis Vuitton have mastered the unisex backpack which I have grown to appreciate but there is still a void in the market.  I found a few cute backpacks on beso. Which would you wear?

Bag It: Must-Have Bag of the Moment February 11th, 2010 By

- Ehmonie from Handbag du Jour

Be & D Woodstock Distressed Calfskin Leather Hobo

Be&D Woodstock Distressed Calfskin Leather Hobo, $995

When shopping for a must-have bag of the moment, I look for a bag that has a distinct blend of classic design mixed with a bit of current trends. The key is to find a true modern classic piece. The Be&D Woodstock Distressed Calfskin Leather Hobo (in Rush Sand) is one bag that definitely makes the cut.

I recently had the chance to preview Be&D‘s spring bags in their showroom and you can take my word for it – the quality and construction these designers put into their collections is amazing!

Made of a smooth, distressed calfskin leather, this large shoulder bag is equally great for day or night. The simple shape boasts an external pocket covered by a large flap, embellished with Be&D’s signature silver pointed studs, but in a much more understated way. A single 6″ rolled handle is just long enough to sling it on your shoulder, and the bag has just the right bit of slouch so it doesn’t hug too tightly under your arm. The interior has a single zip pocket and two recessed pockets, and ultrasuede lining.

Get it for $995 at beso.

I am a strong believer in that you don’t have to spend a lot to look fabulous! While most of us rely on magazines to learn the new trends of the season, we can also use it as inspiration to know what to shop for in order to stay current.  In today’s economy, it’s more practical to splurge less and shop the hot trends at affordable prices.  Allow me to show you how to get the designer looks for less without compromising your style.
