Neutral Territory: Nude Apparel and Accessories April 25th, 2011 By

Nude Apparel and Nude Accessories on the Beso Blog

Neutral apparel will always be in style.  Now that the monochrome trend has really taken off, we love wearing our neutrals by pairing pale on pale.  For instance, take this Cacharel Roll Collar Sweater and pair it with this Stella McCartney Silk Wrap Maxi Skirt — the look is fresh and current.

Finally, if you just want to take add neutral accents, try nude shoes or nude bags to soften up a brighter look.  We love these Calvin Klein Carley Shoes and this Nude Topshop Punch Out Detail Lady Bag, they’re great staples we can see going with various outfits.

Top 5 Summer Staples May 13th, 2010 By

I was a summer baby, born in July.  It must have been the alignment in the stars because I have an innate pull toward the summer months.  As the weather begins to warm and vacations are in the last stages of planning, I am beginning to feel my favorite time of year creeping up.  Here are my Top 5 Summer Staples:

1. I always wear SPF 30 on my face.  Mineral versions like this Peter Thomas Roth powder with SPF 30 are a great alternative to heavy sunblock creams that can cause breakouts.  I used to use these sunblock creams, but after applying makeup it proved too many layers for the summer heat.  Now, I just brush this on in the morning and throw it in my purse for touch-ups as necessary!

2. Chlorine can damage your hair, skin, and bathing suit.  Kiehl’s makes the best product — Swimmer’s Cleansing Rinse for your hair and body.  It’s gentle enough to use on your swimsuit, too!  It neutralizes the chemical and keeps your hair from turning green, skin from drying out, and your favorite suit from deteriorating!  If you spend your summers in the swimming pool, this is a must have.

3. Everyone is in search for the easiest way to get that tousled, beachy wave look without looking like a sloppy mess.  I use a 1 ½” barrel curling iron and wrap 2” sections (or larger if I am in a rush) to create big, loose waves. Then I flip my head over, shake it out, finger comb, and finish off with this a few sprays Frederic Fekkai’s amazing Beach Waves Spray. It has an amazing smell, seals/protects hair from the sun, and gives you that California surfer girl look all day.

4. I am dying to get a hot new bathing suit this summer.  I’m really want to get a plunging v-neck like this halter one-piece by Carmen Marc Valvo. While it’s still very sexy and on trend, no need to worry about getting a bunch of funky tan lines across my midsection.  This suit exudes confidence and personal style — I can already envision myself cocktailing by the pool!

5. Lastly, I love this silk coverup from Diane von Furstenberg. Maxi-coverups were hot this season on the runways, and make it easy to go straight from lounging to lunch or dinner. This resort piece is hot, and the lioness in me can’t resist the leopard-print and embellishments!  If you’re not as bold, try something more subdued (but still sultry) like this tunic from Calvin Klein.

As you build your handbag collection, it is important to have a mix of classic trendy and unique pieces.  Options are important for the days you want a bag that matches your mood or best complements your outfit.  On the other hand, it is convenient to have a bag that looks great with everything.  When investing in a classic bag, look for subtle details such as a textured pattern or hardware that is simple and won’t go out of style.  After all, you want to be able to love your handbag forever.

Shop under $25: Skinny Belts October 27th, 2009 By

Skinny belts are an affordable item that will help you to take your outfit fashionably from summer into fall.  You can wear one belted over a long cardigan and jeans for instant sophistication; or try one over a short cardigan with a lightweight dress and tights. Skinny belts even help you look skinnier. They make sure you don’t lose your shape without adding the bulk of a larger cincher.

Left, Calvin Klein Skinny Belt. Right, Michael Kors Grommet Skinny Belt.

The chocolate Calvin Klein belt is a classic style that is sure to work with everything in your closet.  It is the best choice if you need one belt for many outfits.  If you want something more fun, check out the Michael Kors grommet skinny belt.  It would look great with a miniskirt, tights and over the knee boots or over a black suit jacket and blouse.

We also like these Michael Kors leather belts:

At just under $25, they are a steal but they are still sure to last a long time since they are well-made and real leather.

These bright belts will look great over fall neutrals.  The hot pink will cheer up a long black cardigan over a white shirt.  While this suede belt will create the perfect fall ensemble when paired with a brown cardigan.

Michael Kors Reversible Raffia Belt

This reversible raffia belt from Michael Kors will work now and later.  Wear the solid side out looped through wool pants and the raffia side out next summer with white linen pants.

Bluefly has so many high-quality designer belts on sale, it would be impossible for me to list them all here.  Check them out here.

Have a budget that calls for fast fashion’s rock-bottom prices?  Check out the Forever 21 belts.  They are all under $10!
