Black Friday Shopping Tips November 21st, 2010 By

Black Friday is the busiest time of year to go shopping.  While the sales and discounts are unbelievably great, the crowds are crazy!  The overall experience of shopping on such a busy day can be frustrating and overwhelming.  Here are a few tips to help battle the crowds to get the deals you want:

1)  Make a list of all the items you plan to shop for and who it’s for.  In the midst of all the excitement, you may forget what you need and who you’re shopping for.

2)  Get to stores early.  It’s impossible to avoid lines on Black Friday, however, if you arrive late in the day, the items you want may be sold out.

3)  Collect the sales ads to know what’s on sale, the actual sales price and where to find it.  If the original item you planned to buy doesn’t work out, having the sales ads with you will save time.

4)  Keep a close eye on your shopping cart.  Black Friday brings out the desperate side of shoppers.  Someone may snag sold-out items from your cart, so don’t leave items unattended.

5)  Stay home and shop on beso.  Pull out your list and sales ads to begin your holiday shopping from the comfort of your own home!

We Have a Winner! June 14th, 2010 By

Congratulations Nancy Frazier - Winner of the Beso Bake Up Summer Sweets Contest!

When I read Nancy’s entry, I was not only intrigued by her French Coconut Pie, but also moved because of why it’s her favorite recipe.  Food is so often tied with such visceral memories, and I love that this pie makes her think of her late great-grandmother.  I made the pie on a warm afternoon and the flavors were, just like she said, “so dreamy.”  Like Nancy, I usually tend to pick chocolate desserts, but the best thing about her French Coconut Pie was that it took mere minutes to whip up, but tasted like I had spent the entire day slaving away in the kitchen.
