Denim’s Most Recognizable Backside: True Religion Jeans

- from Denim Debutante

You’ve seen them on everyone from celebrities to the girl (or guy!) next door. These babies are carried at virtually every high-end denim boutique (as well as their own stand-alone stores) and all major department stores.

But, what’s so special about True Religion Jeans?

A little brand background from the True Religion site:

Jeffrey Lubell founded True Religion in 2002 with the intention of redefining premium denim. His vision was to make quality, American-made, authentic, timeless, great fitting, 1970’s inspired jeans wear, with a trendsetting appeal for today’s consumer.

Today, True Religion Brand Jeans is known not only for its denim, but also for its knit and woven sportswear, such as t-shirts, western shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants that all have that vintage feel.

True Religion’s commitment to perfect fit, timeless style and that hippie bohemian chic flair have solidified True Religion’s brand position as a leader in premium denim and casual sportswear globally.

In the years since their inception, True Religion has exploded into a denim powerhouse and is, with the possible exception of 7 For All Mankind (which we’ll talk more about in the future!), the more recognizable and most counterfeited jeans. When purchasing a pair, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

1. If you’re unsure that they’re authentic, WALK AWAY. While you won’t see any counterfeit True Religions here on beso.com, there is no guarantee that the ones you see for $50 on eBay are real.

2. Buying from someone you trust is very important, but even then, I recommend reading the tags and brushing up on the markers to look for (Authentic Forum is a great place to check this out, as well as this guide on eBay).

3. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Trust your instincts.

4. Read reviews and ask questions. There are people like me who live and breathe denim, and we’re more than willing to help you find the perfect pair!

There are definitely some great deals to be found for True Religion jeans right here on beso.com. The pair I recommend the most? The True Religion Multi Stud “Bobby” Flare in Promiseland Wash… and they’re 30% off!

Happy Shopping!

Blogs We Love: Bryanboy

BRYANBOYBryanboy

Greatness, the idea of someone being “the best,” is usually easier to conclude in hindsight.  What we love today can easily fall short tomorrow as the pace of the world quickens.  So, who are the great bloggers?  What makes a blogger stand apart from the ocean of opinions we surf through every day?  Only time will tell…lasting power alone proves a bloggers ability to connect with an audience; to affect the masses.

The reason I bring this up is because I recently found a blog that sparked my attention.  More specifically, a personality that comes through so strong in this new medium that I can’t help but want to know more.  Introducing Bryanboy.  It has a sort of superhero ring to it, no?  And he might just be the masked man for the job.

The blog posts vary.  Some are very short and to the point, product focused.  Some take us behind the scenes on exotic fashion adventures.  Nothing appears to be mundane for this young enthusiastic fashion nut.  Take a look at his post of a hidden camera at the 2010 Chanel Spring Summer Show:

This kid goes the extra mile.  He’s not posting countless wish-lists and regurgitating the same old information…he is paving his own way.  He is chasing something, and he’s bringing us along for the ride.  And that…is the making of greatness.

I was truly sold by Bryanboy when I read his post entitled “Great Expectations.”  I realized he has the humility and wisdom to actually pull it off.  He goes on to explain that “in order to be a credible and authoritative critic, one has to possess a great knowledge of a particular subject they are talking about. And it doesn’t happen overnight.”  He refers to himself as a work in progress, another sign of greatness.  And above all, every post is bleeding with gratitude and awareness of the readers who have given him the life he has always dreamed of.  There is no doubt that his enthusiasm is infectious.  We will be hearing more from Bryanboy in the years to come, and we will be rooting him on the entire way.

Platinum Blonde Life
strikes me as an ongoing Christmas wish-list.  Creator Melanie Brown does a great job of putting together groups of photos and links for her readers.  The posts are short, to the point, and filled with links to buy the featured items.  You’ll find everything here from clothing and shoes to makeup and jewelry.  Take a stroll through her posts and you will not be disappointed.

Blogs We Love: Prepidemic Magazine

Prepidemic Magazine

Prepidemic Magazine

Prepidemic Magazine is very clear who they are and who they appeal to.  They refer to themselves as, “a few Ivy Leaguers, embracing some traditions, shunning others, crafting a fresh vision that doesn’t chafe you where you don’t want it to.”  Their posts range from tips on how to layer clothing to what you should have worn to a lawn party.  The posts are frequent and will make you immediately feel like you belong to a yacht club.

In addition to the regular posts, Prepidemic also features a fashion glossary and a “Prepidemic Guides” section.  Here you will find the “how to” or “for idiots” style posts.  Some of the titles include: “A Beginner’s Guide to Buying a Suit,”  “A Guide to Looking After Your Shoes,” and “How to Wear Your Dress Pants.”

Read some of their posts now: prepidemic.com.  Prepidemic is also on Facebook.

Blogs We Love: GQ Launches A New Website

GQ.com

GQ has redesigned their website, merging GQ and Men.Style.com.  The new site is much like the older one, only more organized and with more eye candy.  The blog section is particularly strong, featuring informative articles in the following categories: Advice, Culture & Design, Fashion News, People & Personalities, Stores, and This Just In.  I enjoy GQ’s mentoring tone, and many of the articles are geared for the man looking for some guidance (I really had no idea there was so much involved in taking care of a pair of Bally shoes).

They are also running another installment of its GQ Rules series.

GQ Rules

The new site does not come without a little controversy.  Unfortunately, women today just aren’t allowed to have perfect breasts anymore…at least not real ones.  Posts on GQ’s website discussed the possible retouching of January Jones’s breasts on the latest cover.  For real?  Possibly?  Are we that dumb?  Everything goes through a retouching phase today.  Guess what?  Even the mangos you just bought at your NYC grocery aren’t local either, they are imported all the way from India, kept fresh by being exposed to radiation, waxing, and even dying.

Aw…did I just ruin mangos for you?  Thank goodness we still have January Jones, and this is one guy who agrees that, just like mangos, we should leave her boobs alone!
