Shop under $10 from Head to Toe February 18th, 2010 By

The 2009 holiday season is now a distant memory, but is your wallet still recovering from a full season of holiday shopping? Here are some of my favorite finds for $10 or less.

beso frugal without skimping on small treats to pamper yourself from head to toe.

I was first introduced to Herbacin Cosmetics Kamille Glycerin Hand Cream by the sales girl at Anthropologie.  The natural chamomile extracts combined with vegetable glycerin and silicone softens the skin and protects against the harsh winter weather.  What a small price to pay for soft, smooth hands?   Hang on ladies, spring is just around the corner!  Warm thoughts come easy with a pair of Valentina Popcorn Mittens and Chenille Mary-Jane Slippers.  They will keep you warm and a Schweppes Ginger Ale Scented Soy Wax Candle will lift your spirits to hold you over for the next few weeks as the weather begins to warm up.  Two other great finds are this satin beaded headband to add some sparkle to your day, and my favorite for this month, the Envirosax reusable, reversible, marshmallow shopping bag.

Editor’s Picks: Baby, It’s Cold Outside November 2nd, 2009 By

Chan Luu Infinity Scarf, $125

Chan Luu Infinity Scarf, $125

With the temperatures under 40° in New York City and snow in October, I can tell we are in for one freezing winter.  I’m already craving cuddly accessories that are fashionable and warm.  Brightly-colored infinity scarves, pop-top mittens and cute berets will keep that basic black coat from looking too bleak.  The weather is dreary enough, so spice up your wardrobe with bright accessories!

Infinity scarves are made as one big loop. You can wear them draped around your neck, over your shoulders, or even as a hood.  This is a trend you can wear now and later.  Chan Luu offers a thinner scarf that will work well into spring, while The Limited has a chunkier knit scarf that will definitely keep you toasty.

I love pop-top mittens.  When it gets so cold outside that hiding your hands in your pockets just won’t work anymore, it is time to break out the gloves.  Leather gloves are beautiful when you are dressed up; but on my hectic commute, I have to remove my gloves so many times, I’ve lost more pairs than I’d care to admit.  Juicy Couture has some very cute pop-top mittens in lots of colors and even stripes!

Berets are not only for Francophiles.  They keep your ears warm and stop you from losing body heat — yet they don’t give you hat head like a more form-fitting cap would.  Berets are especially great for those of us who have trouble with static as the temperature drops.  You can even find a match for your pop-top gloves from Juicy Couture!
