What’s New: Purple Mania March 12th, 2010 By

It’s finally Friday, which means it’s time to spend that paycheck on new goodies! The first things I started searching for this morning were brightly-colored pieces to get me in the spring spirit. Check out my fab finds in my favorite color of the moment, purple!

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Wushishi' Sweater, $228

A long, lightweight sweater is always nice to have hanging in your closet because you can throw it over a pretty camisole or a graphic tee. I found this MARC by Marc Jacobs sweater in bright purple and fell in love with the diamond-shaped design detailing and the long length of the sweater.

Purple Crocodile Stretch Butterfly Belt, $22.00

Spring dresses can look more polished with the help of a belt at the waistline. I like this belt mainly because of the big butterfly in the front, and I like my accessories to catch attention!

Jessica Simpson Esis Flats, $27.99

Next I found these Jessica Simpson flats in raspberry. These flats would add a pop of color to any jeans and t-shirt ensemble.

Ann Taylor LOFT Purple Hair Pin Set, $12.50

To add a bit of flair to your hair this spring, I found this Ann Taylor LOFT hair pin set with purple detailing. Use these pins to pull back your bangs, or to add interest to a bun or ponytail.

For obvious reasons I advise you not to wear all of these items at once.  However, use your own judgment to incorporate the right splashes of color.  Check out other great new purple things and many other great colors too at beso!

How to Wear: New Year’s Eve Fashion December 29th, 2009 By

Betsey Johnson Twist And Shout Strapless Dress

Betsey Johnson Twist and Shout Strapless Dress

Now that the holiday season is coming to a close, it is time to ring in the New Year.  This year is an especially important milestone since we’re saying goodbye to the first decade of the new millenium.  Get your New Year’s resolutions ready, but first, get ready to party!

Here’s how to do it fashionably:

Cocktail dresses are the standard for New Year’s Eve celebrations, unless you are attending a black tie event.  The little black dress is the best choice if you are planning on wearing eye-catching accessories.  Your LBD can have some sparkle and flair.  The Betsey Johnson dress above is fun and flirty.  The sequins add a festive shimmer while allowing you to wear a colorful shoe, since your dress is a neutral.

If you are feeling more bold, try a red or purple cocktail dress.  Both are key colors this season.  Silver and gold dresses are also great choices paired with a black clutch and black heels.

You can pair a basic dress like this ruffled ABS cocktail dress with a sequined cardigan or a statement necklace.

If you are attending a casual party, try some sequin leggings with a long sweater. You’ll stay warm and still look cute.  A bow headband is a fun extra.

Remember to pick out a cute clutch to go with your evening outfit.  Metallics (gold or silver) and black are the most versatile.

Above all, remember that New Year’s Eve is a time to have fun and go wild.  Break out your favorite when-will-I-ever-wear-that accessory and take it out for a night on the town.  See you in 2010!

Shoe Cravings: Bright Booties November 13th, 2009 By

Left, Steve Madden Sleakk. Right, Lovely People Piper.

In luxe suede, richly colored booties up the chic status of any outfit.  Their small stature ensures the color won’t be too overpowering, while the style is definitely on trend for fall and winter.  Paired with black tights and skirts or dresses, they’ll make an outfit extraordinary.

We love Steve Madden’s Cuddless and Sleakk booties, as well as Lovely People’s Piper.  The Piper bootie also has ruffles, another hot trend this season.

Moda Spana Claddagh Bootie, $50

Moda Spana Claddagh Bootie, $50

For all you fashionistas on a budget, wear a new pair of bright booties with your favorite LBD and some black tights.  Add a new accessory or two, like a statement necklace, and no one will guess that the dress was from 3 seasons ago.  Wear them casually with some skinny jeans or leggings and a tunic.  The Moda Spana Claddagh bootie is a steal at $50 and comes in purple, the hottest bright for fall.
