I’m looking for wedding bands. It’s a wee bit early, but after seeing some beauts at the OK Store a couple months back, and being reminded of Mociun from Elise’s blog post, I can’t stop looking at/for them. Is there a rule with wedding bands? Do they have to match the engagement ring? I have a classic engagement ring, but would like a less traditional band. My e-ring is platinum, but I usually wear gold jewelry and the ring also has a split shank (meaning a band won’t sit flush unless I have it custom made…which I don’t really want). I’ve found some seriously awe-inducing bands that make me want to throw that whole notion of matching out the window. Is that a big no no?

Funny, I was just watching a re-run of Law & Order and they caught a seemingly married couple out for not actually being married because their wedding bands didn’t match. Not the question, I know, but it made me laugh. ANYWAY: I have a platinum ring and a gold band. Mix it up!
Mine doesn’t match at all and I love it that way, but I would say I’m a bit offbeat from the run of the mill average. Personally I find matchy matchy to be a bit boring and mundane, but to each their own right!
My engagement ring is white gold with an emerald, and my wedding band is titanium with a spalted maple inlay, both are gorgeous and stand on their own as separate pieces. I usually wear my engagement ring on my right hand anyway since it was sized a bit too big for my left.
