    BROWNS FOCUS

38–39 S. Molton St., Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7514 0063

If a designer shows at London Fashion Week, most likely they can be found at the Mayfair-based Browns Focus. This younger, hipster sister to the more established Browns Fashion across the street (42 years and counting!) is also where they often host trunk shows attended by Alexa Chung and the London social set. Color and cut are two key things for their wares, which are all displayed on black mirrored walls: Cue the floral lace peacoats by the hyper-talented Simone Rochas, crazy-mad printed dresses by Ostwald Helgason, and Anna Laub's architecturally cool sunnies.SHOP NOW >

    B Store

    21 Kingly St., Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7734 6846

Situated just off the super posh Savile Row, Matthew Murphy's B Store takes an avante-garde approach to the classics in a not-at-all-scary way. For the eponymous mens and womens lines, Murphy normally teams with old-school brands. Past collaborations have yielded sweet Liberty of London prints re-issued as dark rockabiliy buttondowns, and traditional Goverall toggle coats re-imagined as leather-looking black waxed cotton jackets, complete with a glimmering zipper that magically transforms it into a cropped bomber. The Mayfair store originally started as a place to showcase his statement shoes, which still take top billing. The other reason to stop in: Christophe Lemaire's handsome polo shirts for the guys, and Peter Jensen's playful dresses for the ladies.SHOP NOW >

    DOVER STREET MARKET

    –18 Dover St., Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7518 0680

Nope, it's not a flea market: Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcon, turned an old Georgian building in Mayfair into a wonderfully ramshackle, beautifully-disheveled six-floor store that has more in common with, say, the Tate Modern. Everything is arranged like one big art installation—the changing rooms are even formed from repurposed portable toilets—and every six months "tachiagari," which means "new beginnings" happens. Designers come in to totally reconfigure the Dover Street Market space and set out new goods. The prices can be as steep as a piece of art, too, with all the Alaia, YSL, and Celine. But that shouldn't stop you from checking it out: There's also CdG's inventive collaborations with Marimekko, dozens of art books, and other wallet-friendlier knick-knacks that make every visit a delightful wander. KABIRI

37 Marylebone High St., Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7224 1808

Jewelry stores generally come in two varieties: Old-fashioned fine jewelers (Henry Winston, Tiffany) or the cheap and cheerful (Claire's). Kabiri, however, deftly occupies the spot right in between, serving up cool, cutting-edge baubles for all thicknesses of wallet. At the Mayfair boutique, you'll find glass bead bracelets by Nikki B that are handmade in Chile (and priced at under $100) right alongside super-pricey (and hefty) Maharaja-era inspired black diamond and ruby earrings set in black gold by Parisian-based Gaydamak. And so, so much in between.SHOP NOW >

    Kurt Geiger

65 S. Molton St., Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7409 3410

The first Kurt Geiger store opened around the corner from the Mayfair boutique on Bond Street in the swinging '60s, and it's still all about fast fashion footwear—both their eponymous label, and those from other established brands like McQ and Acne. The in-house Kurt Geiger line hits all the trends and offers a good choice of everything from the sensible (royal blue ballet flats) to vaguely didn't-I-see-that-on-a-runway styles, to totally outrageous sparkly party shoes that still come in at under $500. Recently-added jewelry—little woven bracelets, drop earrings—come pre-packaged in glitzy envelopes for around $15, which makes them pretty perfect gifts. SHOP NOW >

    SHOW STUDIO

    1–9 Bruton Place, Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7399 4299

Tucked away down a discrete alleyway just off bustling Bond Street, this unassuming two-story Mayfair photo studio/exhibition space is named after fashion photographer Nick Knight's mind-blowing website. The upstairs—closed to regular folk—is where he's often shooting the likes of Kate Moss. But downstairs is where you can find the goods: Exclusive, one-off pieces like wallpaper by artist Julie Verhoeven (she's famed for, among other things, designing the Louis Vuitton patchwork satchels in 2003) and handcrafted patent leather object d'art by Giles Deacon. It's all designed to correspond to the theme of whatever's currently on display at Show Studio, and despite how it sounds, not everything costs a thousand tenners: the frame-able Fashion Revolution postcards will only cost you one.SHOP NOW >

    The Box Boutique

    45 Maddox St., Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7499 4277

Russian sisters Yulia and Elena Pashevkina set up shop here in Mayfair in 2011 after studying at Central Saint Martins (the fashion school that can count Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, and Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton as alums), and have since amassed one of the most unique rosters of shoe designers ever seen. The Box Boutique stocks everything from one-of-a-kind vintage silk scarf sneakers by Russy Valenki to Chrissie Morris' multi-textured handcrafted heels, to art deco-inspired creations by Parisian label Aperlai. Top marks, though, go to dramatically oversized cateye sunnies from A-morir (Lady Gaga's current fixation), and snuggly Ugg boots the girls first send to Russia to have covered in opulent Swarovski crystals and gems. They're so much better than you'd expect.SHOP NOW >

    WHISTLES

22 S. Molton St., Mayfair, London
    +44 20 7491 0597

Jane Shepherdson, the woman who transformed Topshop into the trend-tastic brand we know stateside, is now working at Whistles. And it shows. It's packed with thoughtful work clothes that don't make you look like you checked your style at the door: Think graceful pencil skirts in navy-and-mint crepe with drawstring waists and sophisticated laser-cut black leather; sharp blazers done in easy denim; and work bags that make toting all that paperwork to-and-from the office not so bad after all.SHOP NOW >
