    Civilianaire

8312 W. Third St., Los Angeles
    323.782.1701

As the most democratizing item of clothing in fashion—and arguably the most omnipresent—a great pair of jeans can make you feel like, well, a million bucks. That's the premise of Civilianaire: The draw here are the crispy raw denim jeans and American-industrial pieces that are all made in the USA, along with simple workwear shirts. In short, all the offers are as classic as apple pie.

    Duncan Quinn

8234 W. Third St., Los Angeles
    323.782.9205

The eensy storefront belies the haven beyond the door: Here, you'll find everything a well-dressed man might need. There are embroidered velvet smoking slippers, extra-luxe padded rugby helmets, and ready-to-wear suits in colors you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else (they do a damned-good bespoke suit, too). In short, the Duncan Quinn man is a gun-toting, scotch swilling, modern-day James Bond and their website is a testament to that ideal. Not only will you find the goods, but the website is packed with tips on how to dress, and what to eat and drink. There's also a section specifically reserved for toys, ahem, exotic cars and planes. If you ever do make it to Los Angeles, pop into the store—it comes complete with an old-school barber station in back (with a whiskey and gin stocked bar, naturally).

    Flight 001

8321 W. Third St., Los Angeles
    323.966.0001

All of the Flight 001 shops across the country are designed to look like the interior of airplanes. Fitting, since the boutiques are designed to respond to the needs and wants of frequent fliers. But there's still lots to covet here even if you don't find yourself in-flight that often. Everything here is pretty genius: You'll find TSA-approved contact lens kits, solar chargers for your gadgets, candy-colored universal adapters, luggage space savers, clean paks so you don't have to wrap your shoes in plastic bags or pilfer the hotel's laundry bags for your dirty clothing, and of course, there's luggage galore. If you're ever looking forward to a flight, you're bound to find something you need here.

8211 W. Third St., Los Angeles
    323.951.0151

New York City-based interior designer Nina Freudenberger also has a soft spot for Los Angeles, which explains why she opted to plop the second location of Haus Interiors smack in the middle of West Third Street (the first Hause Interiors is in NYC's Nolita). There aren't enough home good shops in Los Angeles, which makes this little boutique all the more essential: You'll find straight-from-the-source neon Moroccan rugs, reclaimed factory lightbulb stands, horse hair dusters and even taxidermy along with some smaller picks which make for flat-out, amazing hostess gifts. As an added bonus, she also runs a full-service interior design firm right out of the boutique. SHOP NOW >

    Milk

8209 W. Third St., Los Angeles
    323.951.0330

It may have the vibe of an old-world general store, but the racks at Milk are packed with things that are very much modern. Owned by Marni Flans and Bari Milken (the daughter of businessman and philanthropist Michael Milken), the picks skew heavily toward brands and labels that are heavily on-trend. You'll find IRO, Pamela Love, and Suno—along with a pretty killer sale rack. (Plus, they even have a pre-order section, so if you saw something on the runway that you know you need to have, you can get first dibs.) SHOP NOW >

    Plastica

8405 W. Third St., Los Angeles
    323.655.1051

Plastica first opened its doors in Silverlake way back in 1996 before it was the happening hot-spot for indie boutiques. The second Plastica location on Third Street has been a open for over a decade and while many stores have come and gone around it, owner Carla Denker's wonderfully curated shop not only endures, but continues to reign as an area favorite. As the the name suggests, the shop is devoted to things that are plastic, so everything is highly-functionable, generally washable, and rainbow-hued. Look here for quirky bento boxes, beautifully designed staplers and office supplies, kids' toys that aren't the least bit cheesy, and woven African chairs. SHOP NOW >

If one-of-a-kind jewelry make your heart flutter, then you probably need a necklace from Pyrrha. No single item is identical in part due to the painstaking, hand-crafting process of pressing 19th century wax seals into recycled 14k gold and sterling silver talismans. Despite their intense celebrity following (Rooney Mara and Brad Pitt are fans), husband and wife team Wade Papin and Danielle Wilmore remain fiercely loyal to their Vancouver home base. What makes the premise of Pyrrha jewelry even better is that the duo are committed to local production and environmental responsibility. SHOP NOW >

    Satine

8134 W. Third St., Los Angeles
    323.655.2142

Satine owner Jeannie Lee may have once been a lawyer, but there's nothing remotely corporate about her style: This long-standing Third Street stalwart is still the area's most important trailblazer when it comes to the labels that matter. The multi-level shop houses design heavyweights like Barbara Bui, Yigal Azrouel, Preen and Azzedine Alaia but is also a goldmine for little-known labels like Jane Oh, Won Hundred, and Kevork Kiledijan. To give you an idea of Satine's popularity, they launched an eponymous label that's already sold-out. Twice. SHOP NOW >
