LINDSEY BOYD, co-founder of The Laundress—a line of beautifully packaged, non-bleach-additive detergents and cleaners for taking care of everything from cashmere blankets to kitchen counters—had a baby daughter five months ago. It's no surprise that she's taken an equally considered, rigorous (and stylish) approach to finding the hands-down best quality things for Chloe. We asked for compendium of her favorite, tried-and-true pieces, from registry essentials to so-cute-it-hurts onesies (which she launders, naturally, with Baby Detergent and All-Purpose Bleach Alternative).
Here, the 10 best baby items that Lindsey Boyd registered for.
- 1
Fisher Price Newborn Rock 'n Play
This is by far the best item on my registry... not the cutest, but definitely the most practical. I loved all the beautiful bassinets but this one is the way to go: Not only will your little one sleep for hours, but it's easy to travel with.
- 2
Manhattan Toy Woozit Activity Spiral
Anything black and white, or really brightly colored keeps Chloe's attention: This is great because it fits on the stroller bar and is easy to wash and dry (plus it plays music and lights up).
- 3
Bumbo Seat
This is brilliant because it lets little ones sit up on their own: Just watch their faces! They're so proud!
- 4
Medela Freestyle Pump
If you plan on nursing, and are a working mom or generally on the go, this is essential (you can stash it in your purse).
- 5
Sophie Giraffe Teether
Most likely, this is already on your list... but register for at least two (maybe even three!): It's the ultimate teether and you can stash them everywhere.
- 6
Aden and Anais Burpy Bibs
You can never have enough of these—I live for them. These are great for burping over the shoulder as they curve to your neck, and you can even use them as a bib when your baby gets a little older.
- 7
Skip Hop Activity Farm Yard
The best activity mat for playing and tummy time!
- 8
Summer Infant SwaddleMe
My husband and I spent hours in the hospital trying to master "the swaddle" but we couldn't make it work perfectly like the nurses...for a quick and easy solution try these.
- 9
MacLaren Baby Rocker
One of the hardest choices was deciding on whether to get a swing or a bouncy chair, or possibly get both. Too many choices! This one is great because it has an option to rock or stand still with vibration. It's also big enough that your little one can grow into it. We now use it to feed Chloe in.

Baby Bjorn Travel Crib
This is the best portable crib I've seen yet: It's easy to pack, compact, and totally stylish.
