things that simplified my wedding planning

Born and bred in Los Angeles, JOANNA SCAPA has pretty much seen it all—after all, this is a girl who enlisted a celebrity wedding planner to execute her Bat Mitvah. But that doesn't mean that it's all out-of-this-world expensive. Case in point: Her new-ish website, ALLEYCATTRADE.COM is packed with on-point picks from hard-to-find labels like Zimmerman and Dieppa Restrepo. Scapa is getting married this fall, so we tapped her for a list of great planning picks.

Herewith, the 11 things that simplified Joanna Scapa's wedding planning.

  • 1

    Alice McCall Royal Dalton Dress

One of my favorite parts about getting married is the engagement time, which my dad likes to call "the escrow period." There are so many fun events—showers, parties—which is code for more clothes! I'll be wearing this dress to one of the parties.

    Le Labo Shower Gifts

I totally thought that getting married would be about me, and well, just about gifts for me, too… but that's not the case. You have to dig into that piggy bank, too. There are about 10 wonderful women who are throwing me a bridal shower, which means another thank you gift. I'm okay with that. I'm pretty obsessed with Le Labo scents. You can also personalize your purchases!

    Modern Posh Bridesmaid Notes

I have 12 bridesmaids! I know, that's a lot right? They are all so special to me, and I wanted to make asking them just as special as they are. So, I sent them all handwritten notes asking them to be in my wedding.

    Fresh Flowers

When I think of weddings I think of FLOWERS! All I want are flowers everywhere: In my bedroom, my office, even my bathroom. They're kind of the best inspiration around.

  • 5

    Geary's Silver Button Cufflinks

I'm getting my fiancé beautiful cufflinks as a "wedding" gift. They're something he can keep forever and hopefully one day pass down to our son.

  • 6

    Punch Studio Expandable Folder

As fun as planning a wedding is, staying organized to a "T" is essential. I use this folder for everything.

  • 7

    Anniel Classic Ballerina Flat

I'm hoping that at my wedding, we'll all be dancing until it's not humanly possible to dance anymore. So, for one of my bridesmaid gifts I'm giving them comfy—and cute, of course—flats.

    Amsale Bridesmaid Dress

Bridesmaid dresses can be the scariest part of the wedding: I found the perfect options from Amsale for $200 to $400 that are fully friend-approved. Check it: Great colors, modern and classic styles. Done and done!

    Rainbow Light Prenatal Vitamins

So, I totally started taking Prenatal vitamins, but not because I'm ready to have kids. These are great for getting hair and nails in tip-top shape for the big day.

    The Wedding Book

Every girl getting married needs this book by Mindy Weiss. Mindy is super well known for planning amazing celebrity weddings (she even did my Bat Mitzvah!). This book is the perfect guide for any big day.

    iGourmet Welcome Baskets

I'm having a destination wedding… well, sort of. I guess you can call Palm Springs a destination, right? I want to have something for guests on arrival, obviously, so I'm turning to this great site, which even lets you create your own basket.
