For those familiar with Sunshine & Shadow (and the Yellow Is Gold extension line for Urban Outfitters), it should come as no surprise that Seattle-based designer LILY RASKIND gravitates toward exuberant pattern and improbably bright colors when it comes to finding things for her 14-month-old daughter, Aoife. This book is hands down my favorite of the books we have. Paul Rand's illustrations are perfection and Ann Rand's text is lovely
to read.

Barefoot USA Owls

I love how graphic and vibrant these stuffed animals are, and they're made by women in Sri Lanka using all cotton and non-toxic dyes. I got ours at the local farmer's market, but orders can be placed by email at barefootusa@mac.com
