Ever since it opened on Echo Park Boulevard in L.A., hairstylist TAYLOR LUCAS' eponymous salon has been an Eastside beauty shop and hangout for the who's who of the indie film, music, and art set. So when her clients heard she was spinning off a new location, they were ecstatic—until they learned it was in Portland, Oregon.
Here, Taylor Lucas shares 11 reasons why she's splitting her time between the two cities
(and we have to admit, they make us want to move there, too).

Better Late Than Never Earrings
I'm not the only one with a thing for these Herkimer diamond studs—all my friends freak for them.
- 2
Local bands like Lovers and Tuneyards
There's so much good live music and so many amazing venues. It's a great place to be if you want to catch a show.
- 3
After All Driftwood Mobile
Everyone needs some of local artist and graphic designer Joanna Bean Martin's work in their lives.
- 4
Matter Table Lamp
School House Electric is my go-to place for reproduced, Edison-style lighting, and since they opened their new location, my source for amazing home goods, too.
- 5
Egg Press Stationery
Their cheery line of cards could brighten up any rainy day.
- 6
Aviation Gin
Who can say no to The Delicious, a cocktail made with mint, lime, and House Spirits locally distilled Aviation gin? Not me.
- 7
Coava Coffee
I like to stop by this coffee shop—which shares its space with a bamboo flooring showroom—for a seriously strong latte.
- 8
Alder & Co.'s "Made in Oregon" Section
I first met Carla Helmholz at my salon in Echo Park and now she lives in Portland, too. Her gift shop stocks lots of made in Oregon goods like the Notary Carafe and these super cute felted sheep.

Sword + Fern Jewelry
There's always a treasure—like this pretty necklace—waiting to be snatched up at this shop/studio/art-space on East Burnside.
- 10
Poler Napsack
This is basically the perfect cross between a down puffer jacket and a sleeping bag. It even has a hoodie built into it.

National 6/7 by OLO Fragrances
One of the coolest, tiniest gift shops in town made a scent with the coolest, tiniest perfumer.
