Stylist and former editor TIFFANY GIFFORD used to travel all over the world to shoot fashion stories for magazines like Conde Nast Traveler… until the siren song of dressing country music stars like Miranda Lambert tempted her to focus her efforts on just one city: Nashville. Maybe it's her Texas upbringing, but settling in the South and styling country music stars just sounded too good to pass up. We tapped Tiffany for the list of the requisite wardrobe additions for moving South.
Here, the 10 things Tiffany Gifford needs to go Country.
- 1
Haute Hippie Dress
This dress is the perfect combination of hippie, gypsy and rock star. Plus, it's aptly named "Smokey Mountain Woman." It's pretty much all I need to fit in in "NashVegas".
- 2
Old Gringo Boots
Understated these are not, but I can't be either when it comes to saying: "I'm new in town, but not new to fashion."
- 3
Prichard's Tennessee Whiskey
Sort of a "duh" choice, maybe, but I've just never had an affinity for brown liquor. I suppose there's no time like now to acquire the taste for this Tennessean poison of choice.
- 4
Gibson Guitar
My manicure may not be ready for this, but I have always wanted to teach myself how to play the guitar… just like Loretta Lynn.
- 5
Cowhide Rug
I'm slightly obsessed with this beauty: I love the flecks of silver. I must have it for my apartment on Music Row!
- 6
Nashville
This is known to many as Robert Altman's best film, naturally. All the native Nashvillians—if that's even a word—have told me that I have to see it.
- 7
Horseback Riding Lessons
Fear be darned! Ever since my friend Sarah's wedding in Nashville at her parents horse farm, I've vowed to overcome my fear of falling off. I need to learn to ride! Like a cowgirl, of course!
- 8
Four The Record
Well, it doesn't get more country and more girl power than Miranda Lambert. She inspires me, and really puts it out there that women can do anything—even burn down a boyfriend's house if he pisses you off! So… you've been warned.
- 9
Christopher Fischer Travel Set
Whether it's on a flight back to NYC to see friends or a flight to Los Angeles to style a client for the Grammy's, I never get on the plane without this travel set.
- 10
Momofoku Cookie Mix
Momofuku Milk Bar cookies and crack pie, which have to be one of my most favorite things in NYC, have been out of reach… until now! I'll be stocking up on these mixes ASAP.
